From Optician to Online Influencer

It is an absolute pleasure to share this update with you. As many of you know, my journey has always been about more than just eye care—it’s about community, connection, and constant growth. Whether I’m in the clinic or crafting a digital strategy at Loving Social Media, my focus is on helping people see the world—and their own potential—more clearly.
Here is the latest update on my journey and what I have in focus for 2026.
🚀 SMMW26: Heading to Anaheim!
I am beyond excited to announce that I have officially said YES to volunteering for Social Media Marketing World 2026 (SMMW26)! This event is the pinnacle of digital marketing, and being part of the volunteer team allows me to give back to the community that has given me so much.
The Dates: I’ll be in Anaheim from Monday, April 27th to Thursday, April 30th, 2026.
The Mission: I’ll be diving into training on Monday afternoon and supporting the event through its conclusion on Thursday.
The Home Base: I’ve got the Hilton Anaheim booked—right in the heart of the action!
If you are attending, please reach out. I would love to connect and share insights on how we can bridge the gap between traditional healthcare and modern digital excellence.
🇦🇹 Family, Roots, and
Before the madness of the marketing world takes over, I’m making time for what matters most—family. I’ll be heading to Austria with my cousin—a trip I’ve been looking forward to for a long time. It’s so important to recharge and reconnect with our roots; it’s that balance that keeps the professional fire burning bright.
🎯 My Vision for 2026: From Eye Care to Everywhere
My plans for 2026 are ambitious but rooted in my core mission: Transforming how healthcare professionals connect with their communities.
1. Reputation Architecture
In the optical industry, trust is everything. In 2026, I’m doubling down on helping practices build “Reputation Architecture”—ensuring their digital presence is as professional and ethical as the care they provide in person.
2. Digital Innovation (SEO & NFC)
We aren’t just posting; we’re performing. I’ll be helping practices:
Boost Google Rankings: Using YouTube and advanced SEO to ensure the right patients find the right experts.
NFC Technology: Implementing new ways to use Near Field Communication to build brand loyalty and instant engagement.
3. Youth Advocacy & Mentorship
Having supported over 1,500 students with work experience, my goal for 2026 is to expand this impact. I believe today’s young voices are the architects of tomorrow’s business landscape—I want to be the one holding the door open for them.
4. MS Advocacy & Positivity
Living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) has taught me resilience. I will continue to use my platform to promote visibility and positivity—showing that a diagnosis is not a full stop, but a reason to find new ways to thrive.
“Healthcare professionals don’t just need visibility—they need a trusted voice. My job is to make sure that voice is heard loud and clear.”
Let’s connect! Whether you’re an optician looking to sharpen your digital focus or a fellow entrepreneur, I’d love to have a 1-2-1 and explore how we can turn your ideas into action.

Embracing Social Media in Optometry
Initially sceptical about the relevance of social media to “real” eye care work, I soon recognised its immense potential for education and outreach. Social media became a platform to share my passion for optics, making it easy to collaborate on frame choices and discuss eye health with a global community of professionals and enthusiasts.
Establishing a Digital Presence
The thrill of creating my first Facebook page marked a pioneering step into the online world of optometry. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with people eager to learn, connect, and engage in conversations about eye care. This early success fuelled my passion further, prompting me to explore various platforms and experiment with different content formats. Through consistent posting and engaging visual storytelling, I discovered the power of genuine interaction in building a knowledgeable and supportive community.

Building a Community and Spreading Awareness
My social media journey evolved from a passion project into an educational and advocacy platform. I raised awareness on eye health, debunked myths, and collaborated with professionals on global campaigns. Engaging with a diverse audience, from patients to concerned parents, I’ve seen the significant impact of social media.
The Human Element: Balancing Passion with Personal Life
Managing a busy practice, social media, and family life has been challenging. Despite moments of burnout, I’ve adapted to the pressures of maintaining an online presence while balancing personal responsibilities.

Navigating Challenges with Mindfulness and Self-Care
Despite the challenges of balancing a busy life with social media demands, I’ve learned to manage by prioritising self-care, setting boundaries, and focusing on the human element at the core of my work. Embracing mindfulness has been crucial; I practice meditation and yoga to lessen stress and foster inner peace. Regular disconnections from digital life allow me to reconnect with the real world and appreciate the moments that truly matter.
Social Media as a Catalyst for Change
Reflecting on my journey, I feel deeply grateful for the doors that social media has opened. It has amplified my voice, connected me with a global community, and enabled me to effect real change. Social media is not just a platform but a transformative force, inspiring positive change and fostering a more connected, compassionate society. It serves as a powerful tool for education, advocacy, and human connection.
A Call to Action
For those hesitant about social media, I encourage an open-minded approach. Recognise its potential as a force for good and engage with it to learn, share, and inspire. As social media continues to evolve, embracing its possibilities can lead to significant personal and professional growth. Be willing to experiment, to learn new skills, and to adapt to the changing landscape.
- Focus on authenticity: Share your unique voice and perspective. Be genuine, be yourself, and build authentic connections with your audience.
- Prioritise human connection: Use social media to connect with others, to build relationships, and foster a sense of community.
- Remember the human element: Don’t let social media consume your life. Set boundaries, prioritise self-care, and remember to disconnect regularly. The future of social media is bright, and filled with endless possibilities for creativity, innovation, and positive change. Let us embrace this exciting frontier, use it wisely, and harness its power to create a better world.
